Experimental 1.(09/03/20)

I want to have a small bit of fast paced fight however it will only be a 10 second section. it will have a under arm wand slash and then switch to the other person defending then hitting back. I would also like to try a slow-mo bit with someone getting hit.

For my first piece of experimental  research i chose to try a bit of a close up fast paced shot, at this stage i am only doing simple shots and for the full shoot i will combine them to create a full film. I mostly wanted to try the effects and shots however i didn't get  the shots i want but i do need to work on story boarding to help me remember and focus on getting the action shots. Overall i am very happy with the effects i did. To start with i mainly just got the effects in place with some opacity to help it fit into the shot. Next i darkened the base shot using black and white with the curves. The main problem with this is the door and window, the door has become extremely dark and the windows color has become distorted and will take more work if i decide to film indoors and want to darken the shot again. Lastly i added a flash to add onto the person to look like the wand was actually causing light. After playing around with the mask i found that i would need multiple masks rather than one covering the body, i would want a strong color near the hand and less towards the head. After getting peer feedback they said that I should have some flash on the walls as if it was a very large flash.

From this i have learnt a lot from the effects side but also found that i need to work on the cinematography side as well as thinking that the effects are real and adding the relevant effects.

Experimental 2.(16/03/20)

This was my first attempt at tracking and there is a lot I would like to change. First I did the track by hand and only did a short section to speed up the trial as it is very time consuming. In hind sight I was I had a closer shot so it seemed less clunky as well as having less extreme movements to increase realism. I didn't try to much with the quality as it was mostly the technique I wanted to work on. I then tried to use a puppet tool to have just the front move but keep the end more still however this didn’t work but I will be working on a solution in the coming days. I think a closer shot would have helped however I won’t know until I experiment.
